The world inside the courtroom has now become exposed and the public seems to know all the tricks and trades of lawyers. Thanks to TV shows like Law & Order or The Practice we can watch the drama of a trial right in our own living rooms. But how much of it is exaggerated? We often see a witness called to the stand and put ourselves in their positions. We can only imagine the sweat pouring and our hearts pounding as the lawyer tried to spin every question and trick you into falling in their perfectly laid out trap, inevitably making you sound guilty. But is that really the case? We must remember that television is made to entertain. If courtrooms really were that suspenseful and lawyers were always out to get you, people would be piling in the courthouse to watch, bringing popcorn to pass around. Despite what you see on television, lawyers aren’t out to get you.
